Current Working Hypothesis
The immediate hypothesis is that a centroid-based representation can produce usable concept clusters inside a controlled technical domain before broader generalization.
This hypothesis represents the current validation stage rather than the full scope of the research program.
Research Questions
- Can technical features extracted from patents be represented through multiple technological aspects?
- Can these multi-aspect representations form coherent and distinguishable technology clusters?
- Do these clusters reveal recurrent technological structures across patent disclosures?
- Do recurring technology concepts exhibit higher-order relationships that reveal recognizable technical patterns?
- Can these structured patterns enhance the capabilities of LLMs in AI-assisted technology analysis?

Validation Framework
The research will be evaluated progressively across representation, concept formation, structural recurrence, higher-order relationships, and downstream AI-assisted analysis.
- Multi-aspect representation Whether technically similar features remain comparable while different technological aspects remain distinguishable
- Concept formation Cluster coherence, separation, false merges, and false splits
- Recurrent structures Whether similar structures recur across independent patent disclosures or patent families
- Higher-order patterns Whether stable relationships emerge among recurring technology concepts
- LLM enhancement Whether structured concepts and patterns improve retrieval, comparison, reasoning, or technology analysis relative to unstructured patent text

Evaluate whether feature-level patent disclosures can be normalized into useful multi-aspect technical representations.
Stage 2 — Concept Formation
Evaluate whether coherent and distinguishable technology concepts emerge from repeated technical evidence.
Stage 3 — Structural Discovery
Study recurrent concepts, relationships among concepts, communities, and higher-order technical patterns.
Stage 4 — Longitudinal Analysis
Observe how technology concepts and structures emerge, grow, split, merge, decline, or recombine as new patent evidence appears over time.
Stage 5 — LLM Augmentation
Evaluate whether structured technology concepts and higher-order patterns improve LLM-assisted technology analysis.
